Obituary: David Lyle Snyder
David Lyle Snyder, Jr., 81 of Athens died Oct. 7, 2015 at The Hospice of East Texas, Tyler surrounded by his family.
He was born July 31, 1934 in Hastings, Nebraska. David was the son of David Lyle Snyder and Anna Viola Murphy. David served his country in the Army during the Korean War becoming one of the youngest Sergeants in his platoon.
David returned from Korea and completed his enlistment at Fort Knox before returning home to Nebraska. He later moved to Texas where he met his lovely bride Wilma Jean Garrard. David and Jean were married in The Four Square Church in Irving. They moved back to Nebraska where they began to pastor their first church embarking on what would be a 55-year career of ministry and service. David found great joy in living out his faith by helping people in need and introducing searchers to Christ. David embodied what a Christian’s life should be inspiring others through his peaceful nature and genuine love for those around him.
October proclaimed Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Tuesday, Oct. 6, Commissioners’ Court approved a proclamation declaring October Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
At noon, officials from law enforcement, the legal system and activists gathered on the courthouse lawn to read the proclamation and renew their determination to stand against domestic violence.
