Bernardo Braga Da Cruz recently returned to Athens High School where he spent the 2001-2002 school year as an exchange student from Portugal. Cruz was a member of the AHS soccer team, which in 2002 was co-district champion and bi-district champion. He returned to Athens in October with his wife, Joana, to attend the wedding reception of his host-family brother, Austin Cates. VIDEO: Master Gardener Harvest Garden groundbreaking
The Henderson County Master Gardeners held a groundbreaking Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the Fairpark Complex in Athens for their Harvest Garden.
“This is (the result of) many months of planning and designing,” said Extension Agent Spencer Perkins.
Pct. 2 Commissioner Wade McKinney said, “In early 2000, the Court, with the cooperation of the park board, moved to buy this 40-acre property in the hopes of supporting the facility and also to offer something more to the community. We are so glad to see this project come in ….”
