Athens ISD’s November Teachers of the Month were honored at Wednesday’s Athens Chamber of Commerce luncheon. TVCC Phi Theta Kappa inducts new members
Trinity Valley Community College’s Iota Alpha chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges, recently inducted 38 new members in a ceremony held in the Student Union Ballroom on the Athens campus on Sunday, November 11. Chapter officers were installed and Texas Phi Theta Kappa district three vice president Daniel Gray spoke to inductees before they officially took the oath of membership.
AHS sends 12 to Region 21 choirs

Twelve Athens High School choir members earned coveted places in the Texas Music Educators Association Region 21 Small-School mixed and honor choirs.
On Nov. 8, the Small-School Mixed Choir members competed in pre-area contest, where J. Brenden Wallace earned sixth-chair bass, advancing him to the area contest. Area, the final round of competition for the All-State Choir, will be held in early January.

Stephan (Steve) Carl Hanson beloved husband, father, grandfather and son returned home to his Heavenly Father on November 8, 2018 in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born January 3, 1955 in Reno, Nevada, and formerly resided in Athens, Texas for the past 18 years. Visitation for family and friends will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 17, 2018 with services to follow at 11:00 A.M. at Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel.
