The Henderson County Performing Arts Center is holding open auditions for the comedy “9 to 5: The Musical.” Roles are for eight females age 20s to 60s and eight males 20s to 60s. The musical is based on the mega-hit movie 9 to 5 starring Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lilly Tomlin. Auditions are cold readings from the script and learning and performing one song from the show. No preparation or experience is necessary. Performance dates are October 1-10. Auditions will be held in the Main Stage Auditorium from 6-8 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, August 10 and 11 at 400 Gibson Rd., Athens.
Pushed to the boiling point by their boss, three female co-workers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot. They conspire to take control of their company and learn there’s nothing they can’t do – even in a man’s world. Set in the late 1970’s this is a hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era. The show is outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic. It’s about teaming up and taking care of business.
