Funeral services for Steven Landis 67, Athens have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel with Lee Poe officiating.
Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park, Athens.
Steve went to be with Jesus Wednesday evening at home surrounded by family.
Steve was born January 9, 1951 in Jacksonville, Texas to Guy John and Odessa Cox Landis. Steve graduated from Athens High School in 1969 and went on to attend TVCC 2 years and then went on to the University of Houston where he graduated with his Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy. Steve worked as Manager and Pharmacist in Charge for Gibson Pharmacy in Seven Points for 37 years as a faithful and dedicated employee. Mr. Landis married the love of his life, Dot Pate and they enjoyed 35 years of a Godly marriage.
Steve was an active and supportive member of Green Acres Baptist Church. His service to his Lord and Savior was a priority in his life, and resulted by many close relationships with friends in the church.
He is preceded in death by his father Guy John Landis.
Survivors include his wife Dot Landis, daughter; Karen Ellis, son; Billy Scarborough and wife Kendra; mother, Odessa Landis, grandchildren; Trey Gould and wife Natalie, Katy Weatherford and husband Kyle, and Michaela Ellis, great-grandchildren; Kenly Weatherford and Maddox Gould, brother; Gary Landis and wife Candy, brother-in-law; Ronnie Pate and his wife Kim.
Through his battle with cancer, Mr. Landis relied on his faith in Jesus Christ to keep him strong.
Pallbearers will be Todd Fowler, Trey Gould, Kyle Weatherford, Ronnie Pate, Billy Scarborough, and Gary Landis, and Robert Gould.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men of his SMBS class at Green Acres Baptist Church.
No Visitation is scheduled.
