Royal Ray Glasgow went home to be with the Lord on March 22, 2014. Services will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 11:00 A.M., at St. Edwards Catholic Church with Father Palmer officiating. Burial will follow at Mary Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Malakoff, Texas.
Royal was born September 14, 1937 in Crescent Heights, Texas to Robert W. and Gladys Watts Glasgow. He was born and raised in Crescent Heights and graduated from Athens High School in 1956. On April 25, 1958, he married Delores Jean Dowlearn.
He began working for Texas Clay in 1957 and he worked there for 47 years until his retirement in 2001. In his spare time he loved to hunt, fish, tend to his cows, and search for arrowheads. He also was an avid reader, enjoyed working crossword puzzles and watching hunting and fishing shows. He was a member of Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Malakoff, and the Knights of Columbus.
He is proceeded in death by his parents; daughter, Katherine Denise Glasgow; his sisters Elizabeth “Skeeter” Glasgow Arthus and Willie Jo Glasgow Lucker; and his brother Pat Glasgow.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, of 56 years; daughters Cheryl Glasgow Hardin and husband Dean of Groesbeck, Tammy Glasgow Bailey and husband Rickey of Eustace, and Missy Glasgow Conditt and husband Farris of Malakoff; son Glenn Glasgow and wife Keri of Malakoff; grandchildren Kaci Hardin, Jarrod Hardin, Jacob Hardin, Heather Bailey Weaks, Caleb Bailey, Katelyn Glasgow, Kirk Clendening, Ariel Clendening Hazelip, and Sadie Conditt; 10 great-grandchildren; his sister Gretta Glasgow Litchfield and brother Jimmy Dean Glasgow; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Jarrod Hardin, Jacob Hardin, Kirk Clendening, and Caleb Bailey; and nephews Jimmy Dean Glasgow, Jr. and Joe Glasgow.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 24, 2014 from 5-7:00 P.M., with Prayer Service starting at 7:00 P.M. at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens.
