Funeral services for Rev. J.W. Thomison, 89, of Chandler, formerly of Athens, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, January 30, 2015 at Chandler First Assembly of God Church in Chandler, Texas.
Rev. Thomison went to be with his precious Lord and Savior on Monday, January 26, 2015 in Tyler, Texas.
J. Wilford Thomison was born the son of William Huie Thomison and Ollie Bell Thompson Thomison on April 12, 1925 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
“Brother T” was a member and former Associate Pastor of the Chandler First Assembly of God Church and an Ordained Minister of the Assemblies of God for over 65 years. He was a church builder in the true sense of the word; constructing three churches as a bi-vocational minister in his early years and serving as associate pastor of three and pastor of nine churches in three states. As a young man, before entering the ministry, he worked in the ship yards in California as a ship builder during the war. He then married Hazel Fay Ross on January 1, 1947 after a New Year’s Watch night service. Papa loved spending time with all of his family and on the farm. He was a loving father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all he touched.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Rev. Thomison is survived by his two sons, James and wife Dana Thomison of Chandler, TX and Terry and wife Darla Thomison of Murchison, TX; one daughter Teresa and husband Jeff Munns of Walton, TX; nine grandchildren; Jamie Boyd, Ty and wife Trista Thomison, Kimbra Carnahan, Chris and wife Cheyenne Thomison, Cameron Thomison, Justin and wife Elizabeth Thomison, Winfield Munns, Thomas Munns, Amanda and husband Chris Bell, sixteen great-grandchildren; Jake Boyd, Joey Boyd, Tyler Thomison, Tucker Thomison, Tori Thomison, Justus Carnahan, Autumn Carnahan, Jaxon Carnahan, Cutter Thomison, Shiloh Thomison, Micaiah Thomison, Kaitlyn Thomison, Tessa Thomison, Connor Munns, Liberty Munns and Isaac Munns.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the Chandler First Assembly of God Church.
Pallbearers will be Ty Thomison, Chris Thomison, Cameron Thomison, Justin Thomison, Winfield Munns and Thomas Munns. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Great-grandsons.
The Thomison family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donation made in Rev. J.W. Thomison’s honor to; Chandler First Assembly of God in Chandler, Barton’s Chapel Assembly of God in Murchison or Zion Hill Assembly of God in the Walton Community.
