Funeral services for Phyllis Jo Cummings Dosser 82, of Sweeney, Texas have been scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Saturday June 23, 2018 at Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel, Athens, Texas.
Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Willow Springs Cemetery near Athens.
She passed away peacefully on June 20, 2018 at Oak Village in Lake Jackson, Texas.
Phyllis was born in Laverne, Oklahoma on May 25, 1936 to Phillip Cummings and Ella Ryals Cummings. She was the youngest of 5 children. She is preceded in death by her husband Franklin Delano “Doe” Dosser, and her siblings Patrick Cummings, Glenn Cummings, Nellie Baldock, Goldie Baggs and Clyde Cummings.
She met and married Franklin Delano “Doe” Dosser of Athens, Texas when he arrived in Laverne, Oklahoma to work on an oil rig. Although she was warned by her dad to stay away from “those Texans” their fate was sealed as soon as they saw each other. They eloped along with lifelong best friends Jim K and Doris Simmons who also met in Laverne. They were six weeks shy of their 50th anniversary when Doe died.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Donny and Vhonda Dosser of Lake Jackson; daughters and sons-in-law, Ralinda and Marvin Lowman of College Station and Dana and David Thornton of Sweeny; six grandchildren: Lyndsie (Michael) Valenzuela and Leslie (Russell) Hunter, Nicholas (Elizabeth) Lowman and Raleesha Lowman, Leah (Andy) Liserio and Travis (Kandi) Thornton. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Logan and Isabella Valenzuela, Avery and Leighton Liserio, Remi Thornton, and Savannah Llanes-Hunter.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks and appreciation to all the wonderful caretakers at The Fountains in Sweeny and Oak Village in Lake Jackson.
