Obituary: Philip King

Funeral services for Philip King, 58, of Athens are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Cross Roads First Baptist Church with Luke King officiating. Internment will follow at Post Oak Cemetery near Malakoff.

Philip King passed away on November 20, 2018 in Tyler.

Philip Blake King was born December 27, 1959 in Dallas, Texas the son of Edgar Durwood King and Mary Geneva Prather King. He was a member of the Aley Family Worship Center in Seven Points and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping hogs. He worked for the Wal Mart Distribution Center in Palestine, Scan Drill Inc in Tyler and Rail One in Cayuga. “Pork Chop” adored his grandkids and loved being at all of their activities. He had a great sense of humor and was a wonderful father, a loyal son and brother, and a very proud grandpa.

Philip is preceded by his father Durwood King and one grandson, Riley Noah.

He is survived by his mother Geneva King; four children, Luke King and wife Jenny of Columbus, Ohio, Heath King and wife Brandy of Palestine, Candace King and Devin Perkins of Athens, Blake King of Gun Barrell City; four siblings, Patricia Arthus and husband Gary of Cross Roads, Terrie Berry of Wimberly, Darrell King and wife Jana of Palestine, Janey Lasley and husband Brian of Midland; nine grandchildren, Jordan January, Londyn King, Robby Oden, Ramsey Oden, Graham Story, Jayden King, Jazmyne King, Jaxlyn King, Antonio Moreno; three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2-3 p.m., Saturday November 24, 2018 at Cross Roads First Baptist Church.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
