Services for Otha Willis Farmer, Jr., 79, of Athens, are scheduled for Friday, December 28, 2018 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church Cross Roads with Bro. Frank Upchurch officiating. Interment will follow at Becks Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Farmer passed away December 22, 2018 in Athens. He was born November 22, 1939 in Athens. He served in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1962. Otha worked at Texas Eastern Pipeline as a scheduler for 27 years before becoming a substitute teacher and eventually a teachers aid with the Cross Roads ISD. He enjoyed flying and even received his pilot’s license in Athens.
He is preceded in death by parents, Otha Willis Farmer, Sr. and Geneva Pauline (Carrigan) Farmer; and a sister-in-law, Iva Lou Gross.
Survivors include wife, June Farmer of Athens; son, Parris Farmer and wife Stacey of Houston; and granddaughter, Ashlee Farmer.
Pallbearers will be Roy Brown, Jeff Barnes, Chip Crist, Troy Gross, Cane Crist and Troy Calhoun.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cross Roads High School Scholarship Fund.
Visitation will be Friday, December 28, 2018 from 10-11 AM prior to the service.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
