Funeral services for Opal Marie Henry Stephens, 70 of Athens will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2016 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Bro. Timothy Grant officiating.
Ms. Stephens passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 in Athens.
Opal Marie Baker Stephens was born in Bonham on Sept. 4, 1945, the daughter of Virgil C. Baker and Lora Mae Nipp Badarracco. She was a member of Hopewell Community Church in Chatfield and will be missed by everyone she knew and loved. Marie enjoyed working outdoors in her garden and loved her summer vacations. She loved quilting, reading, talking over coffee, and in her free time, Facebooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, L.D. Henry and Wayne Stephens; one brother C.E. Baker; and two sisters, Yvonne Harrison and Lois Hamilton.
Marie is survived by her children, Kathy Fender and husband Lonnie of Athens, Natalie Wymore and husband Lloyd of Athens, Becky Hankins of Athens, Lonnie “Bubba” Henry Jr. and wife Shelly of Crossroads; two sisters, Arcella White of Athens and Bonnie Beye of Edna, KS; 10 grandchildren, Mandy Brittain and husband Josh, Lee Fender, Angel Woodard and husband Matt, Chad Wymore and wife Brittany, Wesley Wymore and wife Mandi, Kacey Hankins, Hank Hankins, Briar Henry, Rachel Henry, and Orin Henry and eleven great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Lee Fender, Chad Wymore, Wesley Wymore, Hank Hankins, Kacey Hankins, Briar Henry and Orin Henry. Honorary pallbearers will include Brian Matlock, Chris Matlock, and Keith Matlock.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home. Arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Family of Athens.
