Margaret Lorene Poole, age 98 of Malakoff, entered into the eternal presence of her Lord and Savior Thursday, September 21, 2017 in Athens, Texas.
Margaret was born February 16, 1919 in Malakoff to James Kimble Derden and Johnnie Louellen Johnson Derden.
She knew what it was like to pick cotton and cook for a crowd. Her specialty was baking pies. She would wake up early and start baking. She is known in Malakoff as the best pie maker around.
She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Malakoff. She was a member of the Sew N Sew group for many years. The group has made many beautiful quilts together.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents Jim K. and Johnnie Louellen, her loving husband of 72 years and 11 months Bonner Poole, granddaughter Stacy Wick, great-grandaughter Audry McDaniel, great-great granddaughter Cierra Morman, six brothers Faulk, Clifford, Richard, Grady, Chilton, J.K. Jr, three sisters Nora Hoskins, Alma Green, and Dolly Derden.
She is survived by her children Virginia Morman and husband Charles, Johnny Poole and wife Melinda, D’Anna Wick and husband Dr. Paul Wick, ten grandchildren Emily Boring, Laura Smith, Anna Reed, Mark Morman, Lance Morman, Robin Chapman, Ginger McDaniel, Steven Wick, Pamela Yoder and Dr. Jeff Wick. Her beautiful legacy continues to live on with 25 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors Sunday, September 24 from 6-8 PM at Huckabee-Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff.
Service will be Monday, September 25 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Malakoff. Bro. Charles Kimble and Bro. Zeth Smith will officiate the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Morman, Steven Wick, Dr. Jeff Wick, Drew Boring, Joshua Reed, and Cole Morman.
Interment will be in Malakoff Cemetery.
I also knew the agony of picking cotton as well as other agonizing jobs. Although I can’t cook I understand what this lady went through..may God bless her soul and keep her in eternal peace.
