Services for Joyce Sessions Adams, 80 of Athens are scheduled for 2:00 P M Friday at Lake Athens Baptist Church with Rev. John Green officiating. Private burial will follow in Red Hill Cemetery under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
She was born August 16, 1933 in Murchison to Marvin Oscar and Ella Jo Hopson Sessions. Joyce was a 1950 graduate of Brownsboro High School. She worked for the VA Hospital retiring in 1988 then moving to Ben Wheeler where she was an active member of Edom Baptist Church. Joyce moved to Athens in 2006 and became an active member of Lake Athens Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul J. Adams, son Robert Wayne Smithee, II, sister Iva Nell Eyster and grandson Bryan Bjornson.
Survivors include daughter Mona Bjornson and husband James, Palestine; daughter in law Malou Smithee, Fort Polk, Louisiana; stepchildren Jessica Jaquette of Page, Phillip Adams and Paul James Adams both of Dallas; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; sisters Peggy Coldiron and husband Dudley, Brownsboro, JoAnne Caldwell, Brownsboro, Beverly Knickerbocker, Dawson and Gail Smitty, Rusk; brothers Ronnie Sessions and wife Rita, Brownsboro and Randy Sessions and wife Karen, Bryan.
Pallbearers will be Michael Amos, Joseph Amos, Jayme Smithee, Stanley Stovall, Jon Turner, Brad Sessions, Joe Sessions, Lawrence Buniag.
Visitation for family and friends will be 1:00 until service time at the church.
