Funeral services for Jenny Ward, 80, of Athens have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Crossroads with Rev. Frank Upchurch officiating.
Burial will follow in Becks Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Ward passed away Saturday in Farmersville.
Jenny was born March 6, 1935 in Corsicana to the late David Noah and Virginia Schomerus Whitaker. She was a resident of Garland for many years and had a 30 plus year career at Texas Instruments. Upon retiring she moved to Athens where she had lived for the past 13 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Crossroads and loved to go fishing and hunting. She also loved to crochet which she enjoyed very much. She always was tending and taking care of her family and will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother William “Sonny” Whitaker.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years Morris Ward, McKinney, sons; Terry Wayne Ward, Corsicana, Morris “Dwayne” Ward and wife Sharon, McKinney, Kenneth Watson Ward, McKinney, grandchildren; Rachel Newman and husband Joshua, McKinney, Christopher Ward, McKinney, great grandchildren; Caroline Newman, and Lucas Newman both of McKinney, and one niece and one nephew.
Pallbearers will be Brad Phillips, Troy Calhoun, Michael Ward, Joshua Newman, Bill Newbill and Doc Holladay.
Honorary pallbearers are Bill (W.D.) Schomerus, Ronnie Schomerus, Mike Schomerus, Marc Shomerous.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to Glenn and Francis Phillips for all their help.
Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
