Services for Ima Jean Marr, 86, of Dallas, Texas, (formerly of Gun Barrel City) are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Chapel with Bro. Steve Glosup officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.
Burial will be in Haven of Memories, Canton, Texas.
She passed away July 31, 2014 in Dallas, TX.
Mrs. Marr was born December 5, 1927 in Canton, TX, to Rufus Anderson and Birdie Lucille Bridges Montgomery.
Jean worked for Collins Radio until her early retirement in the 1970’s. Jean served on the GBC City Council in 1983,84,87 and was Mayor Pro Tem. While on the City Council initiated Gun Barrel’s first fire pumper truck. Jean was a charter member of the First Assembly of God of GBC and attended The Rehabilitation and Wellness Center of Dallas’ Church.
Surviving are daughter, Francis and Stan Simons of Mesquite, TX; son, Mike Marr and partner David Litz of Dallas, TX; sister, Martha and Robert Davison of Tusson, AR; three grandchildren and spouses, James and Cindi Davidson, Sherri and Tommy Alford, Leigh Ann and Mark Medcalf; four great-grandchildren, Haley, Luke, Matthew Medcalf, Tommy Alford III.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband Johnny Francis Marr and brother Wayne Montgomery.
Pallbearers are Mike Marr, James Davidson, Stan Simons, Mark Medcalf, Luke Medcalf, and David Litz.
Family will receive friends Monday 6-8 p.m. at the Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
