Obituary: Harry Eugene Guill, Jr.

hary guillHarry Eugene Guill, Jr., a resident of Athens, formerly of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, died on January 2, 2016, after a short battle with cancer.

Guill was born on October 18, 1930, in Greensboro, North Carolina, as the only child of Harry Eugene Guill, Sr. and Reba Peterson Guill. In his adult life, he served in the Navy, earning the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Medal with Bronze Star during his twenty-two years of service. As both an enlisted man and a civilian, he worked as an air traffic controller. Following his retirement from the Navy at the rank of Chief Petty Officer, Guill worked at Blossman Gas in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Winnie Fae Bullock Guill, and his sons Terry Lee Guill, Harry Guill III and Tony Guill. He is survived by his brother-in-law James Bullock and his wife Betty, his nephews Carl and Terry Bullock, his nieces-in-law Michelle and Cherie Bullock, his great-nephews and great-nieces Matthew, Kaley, Alexis, and Jacob Bullock.

Mr. Guill’s family would like to thank Dr. Ronald Heine and the staffs of Hospice and Oakwood Place for their excellent care and compassion in the last moments of his life. A private family service with be held at a future date.
