Funeral services for Elzada Ruth Pagitt, 79, of Athens are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the chapel of the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens with Bro. Randy Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Poynor Cemetery in Poynor.
She went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, July 21, 2013 in Athens.
Elzada was born June 17, 1934 in Eastland, Texas to Edward Clark and Minnie Hall Clark. She lived in this area for over 50 years and was employed as an insurance agent for 25 years with Gould Insurance Company. Elzada was a member of First Christian Church in Athens, a former member of Business and Professional Women’s Club, Weight Watcher’s leader, and she loved gardening. Elzada will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Robert Pagitt and one brother, Edward Clark.
Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda Myers and husband Marlin of Pearland, Donna P. Richardson of San Antonio; two sons, Steve Pagitt and wife Cindy of Athens, Jerry Pagitt and wife Tamara of Luka, Miss; granddaughters Elizabeth Myers, Christy Myers, Courtney Wigley and husband John, Meagan Medina and husband Javier, Holly Pagitt, Jamie Mabry and husband Payne; grandsons Evan Pagitt and Matthew Myers; two great-grandsons; sister Becky Caddell and husband Rick; brothers Almond Clark of Frankston, Louie Clark and wife Linda of Elkhart; brothers and sisters-in-law Jeanette Clark of LaPorte, Billy Joe and Mauriene Pagitt of Athens, Martha and Max Bishop of Tyler, Thomas Ray and Carolyn Pagitt of Poynor and Pat and Jimmy McCarty of Tyler; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Steve Pagitt, Jerry Pagitt, Evan Pagitt, Matthew Myers, Javier Medina, and Payne Mabry.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
