Edwin Horton Walker was born February 6, 1930 in Murchison, Texas the son of Walter W. Walker and Ida Lee Findley Walker. He attended Brownsboro Schools before joining the United States Army and being Honorably Discharged in 1954. During his service he received membership to the 24th Constabulary Squadron of the Border Legion for Exceptional and Distinguished Service along the U.S. and USSR Border of Germany on a National Security Mission between 1951and 1952. Upon his return he married the love of his life Ethel P. Craker on July 13, 1957. They resided in Pleasant Grove for 38 years; he worked at General Motors, Security Engineering, T.F. Tigert Manufacturing and at TEPCO Manufacturing after retiring with Forney Engineering in Dallas. Ed enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar, watching football and especially watching old western movies. In his early years he enjoyed car racing at the dirt track and he owned a couple of horses. He was glad they moved back to the country, his home place in the Black Jack Community. He was proud of his two grandsons and five granddaughters, always perking up when they came to visit. “Paw paw” as he was lovingly called always had a hug, some “shugars” and good humor to share. He attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was baptized in Woodrow’s Mill Pond. He was a family man, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters and by his son, Melvin Roy Walker.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Ethel Walker of Athens; three sons, Harold and Sherry Walker of Forney, Carl and Donna Walker of Mesquite, Bruce and Pam Walker of Kaufman; seven grandchildren, one great granddaughter, two nieces and three nephews.
