Graveside services for David Adams “Pappy” Paup, 63 of Athens will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
David died unexpectedly on Wednesday evening (July 20) at the Kane Community Hospital in Kane, Pennsylvania, while in town to attend his family reunion.
He was born Jan. 30, 1953 in Kane, Pennsylvania the son of Donald and the late Dorothea Paup. On Jan. 9, 1976 in Crane, Texas he married Melissa Shields, who survives.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Paup worked as a project manager in the oil and gas industry. He spent many years traveling to Africa, to both Nigeria and Angola.
In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by his step-mother Martha Paup; three sons, William Ted (Beth) Paup and Joseph Adams (Stacey) Paup both of Larue, TX and David Craig Paup of Athens, TX; one brother, Douglas Edward Paup of Del Rio, TX; two sisters Peppi (Kirk) Looney of Crane, TX, and Charlotte (Conrad) Lee of Odessa, TX; five granddaughters, Maylon, Braleigh and Andrea Paup, Katelyn England and Rylee Jowell; two grandsons Ashton Paup and Marcus Conroy; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Paup, Craig Paup, Ted Paup, Ashton Paup, Marcus Conroy, and Steve Tackett.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens.
