Funeral services for Clara Jo Davis, Athens Review writer will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Chapel with Rev. Larry Fondren and Rev. Frank Upchurch officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Springs Cemetery on Highway 59.
Clara Jo passed away June 7, 2015 in Athens.
She was born February 24, 1927 to Tom and Trixie Morrison in rural Anderson County near Cross Roads. She attended Cross Roads Public Schools. Clara Jo loved people. She never met a stranger. She would give what she had to people that had lost their belongings due to a tragedy. Clara worked for Hollywood Vassarette, Sears, Koon Kreek Klub, and drove a school bus for Cross Roads, Athens and Malakoff a total of 18 years. She wrote for the Athens Review over 30 years. She also did some writing for the Malakoff paper. It brought her much pleasure to write her articles. Her eye sight began to fail the last few years and she was not able to write for the paper often. She made many beautiful wedding and birthday cakes for so many people and she brought joy to many.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Osburn Davis, her daughter Bobbie Karan Feagins and great niece Megan Wills.
Survivors include her sister Bobbie Matthews and Carl of Rusk, nephew Tommy Matthews and Glenda of Rusk, niece Carla Wills & David of Georgetown, great nephews Jonathan Matthews of Tyler and Macon Wills of Georgetown, great niece Carlen and Nathan Coon and son Henry of Georgetown, special friends Malcom Kinsey, Lora Horton, Margaret Smith, Viola Maness, Lola Welch, Anita Casey and Dixie Gage along with many other friends and relatives.
Visitation for family and friends will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday.
