Carolyn Lindsey, age 84, of Brownsboro, passed away on November 10, 2017, in Tyler. She was born on July 24, 1933, to Victor Carlton Cook and Loreda Mae Camp Cook in Frankston, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jake Junior Lindsey; her brother, Charles Cook and sister, Mary Cook; her son-in-law, Gary Guffey; and one great-grandchild, Xavier Miller.
Carolyn was a homemaker who was dedicated to caring for her husband and her 6 children. She was a true homemaker, one that cooked, cleaned, and sewed. She made all of her daughter’s clothes for many years as they were growing up. To relax after a hard day’s work of caring for her home and family, she enjoyed reading and crocheting. Carolyn was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Brownsboro.
Survivors include, her daughters, Brenda Wariner and husband David, Sallie Guffey, Carol Cardona and husband Cris, Janet Lamb and husband Carl, and Vickie Lindsey; her son, Johnny Lindsey and wife Susan; her grandchildren, John, Stephanie, Jason, Mika, Mary, Gary Paul, Jodi, Adam, James, Donny, Elaine, Leslie, Jake and Starr; 31 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017, from 1-2 p.m. at Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. at Echols Jennings Mountain in Brownsboro. Serving as pallbearers will be the grandsons. Autry’s Carroll-Lehr is in charge of arrangements.
