Carl Thomas Richardson passed away to his heavenly home on January 7, 2019 in Tyler, Texas. He was born in the New York Community on August 14, 1930 to Omer Berry Richardson and Ruby Bostick Richardson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law R.T. and Ima Driver; his brother-in-law Bobby Driver.
Carl graduated from LaPoynor High School in 1948. He began his career with Texas Power and Light in 1949. He retired from Texas Power and Light as a foreman after 38 years of service and continued his cattle operation. After living in Athens for many years he and Doris returned to the New York Community in 1991. In 2013 after 60 years of ranching he retired. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and member of LaRue Baptist Church. His greatest joys were his church, family, sports and playing 42.
Survivors include the love of his life Doris Driver whom he was married to for 69 years; his son, Tommy Richardson and wife Cindy of Athens; his daughter, Robin Shultz and husband Tod of Athens; his grandchildren, Chris Richardson and wife Ashley of Athens, Holly Vazquez and husband Eddie of El Paso, Texas. Brandy McKeever of Duson, LA, Cliff Richardson of El Paso, Texas, Jessica Richard and husband Rob of Guilford, CT, Jordan Davis and husband Andrew of Overland Park, KS, Jenna Tarrant and husband Austin of Athens. Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law Odene Richardson of Ft. Worth; his nephew, Steve Richardson and wife Cathy of Ft. Worth; his brother-in-law James Driver and wife Ywachetta of Irving.
Serving as pallbearers will be, Chris Richardson, Cliff Richardson, Eddie Vazquez, Rob Richard, Andrew Davis, Austin Tarrant, and Brett Babineaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Forester, Brian Forester, Steve Splawn, Dewey Reynolds, Chuck Shultz, Ralph Sholars, and James Dickerson.
The family would like to invite you to a visitation on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral home, with a Celebration of life funeral service on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 2:00 PM at New York Baptist Church in New York with Bro. Olin Boles officiating. Burial to follow at the New York Cemetery.
