Funeral services for Archie Lee Clayton, 85 of Brownsboro have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Rock Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Robert Welch and Bro. Danny Bristow officiating under the direction of Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home, Athens.
Private burial will follow at Rock Hill Cemetery in Brownsboro.
Archie was born and raised in the Brownsboro area and graduated from Brownsboro High School in 1952. Archie worked for Lone Star Oil & Gas for 10 years and Hunt Oil Company for 28 years. He was 10 years old when he started going to Rock Hill Baptist Church making him one of the longest attending members. He served as a Deacon for many years and was a member of the Texas Baptist Church Builders Association. His hobbies included working, listening to bluegrass music and playing dominoes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Bessie and Jewell Clayton, sisters; Murl and May, brother; J.B., grandsons; Russell Epperson and Austin Williams.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Peggy Bristow Clayton, daughters; Rhonda Epperson and her husband Ron, Donna Daniel and her husband Ron, Trish Holt and her husband Chip, grandsons; Lance Epperson and his wife Brandy, Clay Epperson and his wife Tori, great-grandchildren; Lane, Jackson, Logan, Lilly and Corley Epperson, several nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, great-grandchildren, Greg Wyatt, Sandy Wyatt and Ronny Lawrence.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his nephews, great-nephews and his Sunday School Class.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
