Services for Angela Joy McMichael, 53, of Athens are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Chapel in Athens with Bro. Mike Dean and Bro. Tommy Jobe officiating. Interment will follow at Athens Cemetery.
Mrs. McMichael went to be peacefully at home with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Oct. 10, 2014.
Angela Joy McMichael was born on Dec. 2, 1960 in Winnsboro, Texas to David and Ruby Jewell Hathcoat. She attended school in Winnsboro and graduated from High school in 1979. She also attended Tyler Junior College and graduated from Trinity Valley Community College with honors.
She married her husband of 32 years, David Wayne McMichael, January 15, 1982. She became a mother in January 1986 when her twins, Laura Ann and Derek Wayne were born. They were her joy!
Angela spent all of her adult life in Athens, working and raising her children. She was a very hard worker and a wonderful, loving mother. Angela was an excellent golfer, enjoyed playing and was the President of the Women’s Golf Association for three years. She was Inspirational for Organizing the Susan G Komen CURE FOR CANCER GOLF TOURNAMENTS. She is loved by many and has always been a joy to be around.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband David Wayne McMichael of Athens; daughter, Laura and husband Jacob Hayes of Palestine; son, Derek McMichael and wife Ashley of Kilgore; sister, Kay Baker and husband Forest of Sulphur Springs; brothers, James Hathcoat and wife Vickie of Sulphur Springs, Ronald Hathcoat and wife Patricia of Celina; brother in law, Dale McMichael of Athens; sister in law, Becky Lawson and husband David of Tyler, Beverly Stringer and husband Scott of Athens, Connie Shultz and husband Chuck of LaRue; father in law, Jesse McMichael and wife Betty of Athens; mother in law June McMichael-Smith of Athens and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers: Nephews; Bradley Murphree, Matthew Lawson, Carson Shultz, Luke Baker, Jacob Hathcoat, Andrew Hathcoat. Honorary Pallbearers; Peyton Stringer, Blake McMichael, Heath Baker, Michael Hathcoat, Ronnie Hathcoat and Steven Hathcoat.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2014 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens.
