Funeral services for Lucille Elizabeth Hasty Kilpatrick is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Chapel with Kern Railsback officiating. A private burial will be held in Overton.
Mrs. Kilpatrick passed away Thursday, June 4, 2015.
She was born July 14, 1933 in Lockland, Ohio to Henry and Myrtle Tyree Hasty, 10th of 11 children. Lucille graduated Sharonville High School and worked at the General Electric plant. She met her husband Jim Kilpatrick when he became the new young pianist at her church, Lockland Baptist Church. They married in 1953.
Their two children were born and she was a fulltime mother, staying active in church groups and working in the church nursery. When her husband accepted a position at New Testament Baptist Church in Miami, Florida, she worked part-time in the church’s school office. In 1970 they moved the family to Texas where she went to work for Western Electric in Mesquite. While there she joined the Telephone Workers Association Clown Troop and became known as “Silly Seal.” Visits were made by the Clown Troop to Children’s Hospitals and Nursing Centers. After the unexpected death of their son, she retired from Alcatel Lucent and relocated to Athens. When her husband was diagnosed with Inclusion Body Myositis she worked by his side starting a Myositis Support Group. In the years spent in Athens she was a member of First Baptist Church and involved in their music program including the Joy Choir. She was very active in her Sunday school class. Lucille also attended services at First Christian Church and was active in their choir. She joined ETMC Auxiliary as a “pink lady” and spent 8,056 volunteer hours of service. After the death of her husband she moved closer to her daughter, residing most recently at U.S. Memory Care of North Dallas. Her fulfilled life also included capturing it all in pictures, her love for her dogs and her great love and participation in gospel music.
She is preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings; husband Jim and her son Rick.
Survivors include her daughter Connie Oden and husband Mike of Garland; grandson Jeff Oden of Longmont, Colorado; granddaughter Sarah Oden of Garland; sisters Mary Richardson and family, Mildred Sloan and husband Gerald; several nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews and special friend Kern Railsback and wife Barbara.
Visitation for family and friends will be 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
