A 2-0 sweep in the 4th annual Budke/Serna Thanksgiving Classic has extended the Trinity Valley Community College Lady Cards’ home win streak to 71 games.
The Lady Cards, now 7-1, rolled to a 73-45 win against Hill College Saturday afternoon to complete the sweep. The Lady Cards were a 76-31 winner against Arkansas Baptist College Friday night.
Second-year coach Gerald Ewing’s squad entered their home-opening action after traveling Tuesday to pick up a 73-67 win against Blinn College in the Lady Cards’ Region XIV Conference opener.
The Lady Cards are scheduled to be in action Wednesday against San Jacinto. Game time is 6:30 p.m. Saturday, they travel to Jacksonville College for a 2 p.m. start.
Christalah Lyons led five players in double figures in the win against Hill with 15 points. Naomi Davenport and Maya Singleton had 14 each, Troi Swain 11 and Malayasia McHenry 10.
Singleton had a huge game on the boards, grabbing 16 rebounds.
Davenport led the way in the win against Arkansas Baptist with 17 points, including four three-pointers.
Also scoring in double figures were Leah Mathis and Lyons with 15 each and Alisha Washington 10.
Lyons, Singleton and Washington tossed in 13 each in the win against Blinn. Swain had 12.
Singleton and Davenport had double-digit rebounding efforts with 13 and 10, respectively.
