It’s time to again shoot hoops for hope.
Trinity Valley Community College basketball teams are helping raise funds for the East Texas chapter of the Amazing Little Hearts Group (ALHG) for a second straight year.
The college has proclaimed Saturday, Jan. 18, as Hoops For Hope Day. The Lady Cardinals and Cardinals play Tyler Junior College at home that day in a Region XIV Conference doubleheader and opportunities will be available for fans to contribute to the effort to raise funds. Action begins at 4 p.m.
ALHG provides support, information and resources to families affected by congenital heart defects in our area.
A congenital heart defect (CHD) is a defect in the structure of the heart and great vessels which is present at birth. Many types of the heart defects exist, most of which either obstruct blood flow in the heart or vessels near it, or cause blood flow through the heart in an abnormal pattern.
Among the opportunities for fans to contribute at the game will be the chance to purchase ribbons and a note for the wall. There will also be a raffle and posters for sale. Donations will also be accepted.
The college is also inviting children from ALHG and others touched by the disease to be special guests at the game.
The college encourages fans to support Hoops For Hope Day.
