Funding for the Highway 334 bridge project on Cedar Creek Lake was approved today, according to State Rep. Lance Gooden.
The approval came during the Texas Transportation Commission meeting in Austin.
“While I won’t rest until I see dirt moving, I’m more confident than ever that we are back on track to finally get this done,” Gooden said. “I appreciate Senator Nichols and lake area leaders, especially Jo Ann Hanstrom, for their diligence and support as we’ve worked to make this happen.”
The project had been pushed back to 2023-24 because of funding concerns.
Gooden and State Sen. Robert Nichols, along with many Henderson County residents, sent letters asking Texas Transportation Commission Chairman J. Bruce Bugg, Jr. to reinstate the funding.
“The Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and their Highway 334 Bridge Expansion Project Committee are so appreciative of the efforts on our behalf of Representative Gooden and Senator Nichols,” said Chamber President Jo Ann Hanstrom. “We’re also appreciative of all the other community leaders who responded with letters when called on. Improving the safety of the Hwy. 334 bridges between Gun Barrel City and Seven Points is going to become a reality sooner than later and we’re grateful.”
Yanno, one of the most valuable CCL Lake Area residents who’s contributed so much to the continued growth of Mabank-GBC-Payne Springs-Log Cabin-Malakoff-Trinidad-Tool-Seven Points-Kemp is the sometimes under appreciated JO ANN HANSTROM!
Fantastic. Good job everyone. We need that bridge soon.
