A little rain couldn’t stop the Henderson County Peace Officers Memorial on Thursday, but it did move the event inside the courthouse.
The annual event is to remember the Henderson County peace officers who have died in the line of duty, and to pay tribute to those who go out every day and put themselves in harm’s way for us.
“In honoring these peace officers, we should vow that we will live and influence others to live so that the lives of peace officers will not be placed at risk,” said Henderson County Peace Officers Association President David Faught. “That we will live so as to create a society as free of evil as we can make it and to offer our support and affirmation to these men and women who, every day, are there to protect us, sometimes at great risk to themselves.”
The guest speaker for the event was State Representative-elect Lance Gooden.
“Your loved ones will never be forgotten,” he said. “We’ll never forget them and we’ll never forget you, either.”
