HCPAC press release
The Henderson County Performing Arts Center with co-producer, Dr. Mark Roberts, announces the 25th Anniversary Summer Youth Musical, “Annie Get Your Gun.”
In this classic Irving Berlin musical, Annie Oakley is the best shot around. When Col. Buffalo Bill Cody discovers her, he persuades this novel sharpshooter to join his Wild West Show. It only takes one glance for her to fall head over heels in love for dashing shooting ace Frank Butler, who headlines the show. She soon eclipses Butler as the main attraction, which, while good for business, is bad for romance. Butler high tails it off to join a rival show, his bruised male ego leading the way, but is ultimately pitted against Annie in a final shoot-out. The rousing, sure-fire finale hits the mark every time in a testament to the power of female ingenuity.
The show features Shannon Ryan as Annie Oakley, Quinton Johnson as Frank Butler, Jacob Miller as Buffalo Bill, Zach Adair as Charlie Davenport, Felix Lenz as Foster Wilson, Marie Bailey as Dolly Tate, Ash Gimler as Tommy Keeler, Channing Horton as Winnie Keeler, Holden Guinn as Chief Sitting Bull, Willie Hadnot as Pawnee Bill, Sariah Joblin as Jessie Oakley, Haile Stephens as Nellie Oakley and Kadie Lynn Roberson as Little Jane Oakley. The Company Ensemble consists of Savannah Joblin, Skylar Walker, Lindsay Haynes, Kenyon Walker, Brayton Brooks, Kaitlyn Cuellar, Lydia Raines, Felicity Walker, Pilar Hernandez, Ethan McGlaun, Olivia Lemmon, Brayton Stenovitch, Abby Newmen, Castle Campbell and Sloane Lenz.
The show is directed by Dennis Gilmore, musical direction by David Young, choreography by Marcia Colbert Tarrance with assistance by Amber Maieritsch. The stage management is handled by Sonya Stephens and Katrina Johnson. Costumes were designed by Margi Hill and Stephens. Technical support was provided by Gary McDonald, Dana Lynch and Paige Austin.
The show marks the 25th anniversary of summer youth musicals at HCPAC. The first summer show produced in 1989 was the Broadway Musical blockbuster, “Grease.” Twenty-three cast members performed for sold-out audiences—a tradition that continues into the 25th anniversary show. Over the years, the YES! (Youth Excellence on Stage) Company has provided the opportunity for over 3,000 young people to get involved in the youth programs.
Tickets may be purchased by calling 903-675-3908 or on line at www.hcpac.org. Non-subscriber tickets are $17 for adults and $12 for students. The show is rated Theatre PG and is appropriate for all audiences.
