Henderson County Performing Arts Center, in association with Dr. Mark Roberts, DDS, announces open auditions for the musical comedy Legally Blonde the Musical. Auditions are open to students aged 10 years through college.
Auditions include cold readings from the script of the play and performing one or more songs from the show. The songs will be taught during the audition. No preparation is necessary and no experience is necessary. Auditions will be held Monday, June8 and Tuesday, June 9 from 6:00-8:00pm. The cast includes seven principal female roles, three principal male roles and several ensemble roles. All who audition will be offered a part in the show.
Legally Blonde the Musical is based on the movie of the same name and follows Elle Wood from college to Harvard Law School in pursuit of her boyfriend who cast her aside for someone more ‘serious’ She discovers how her knowledge of the law can help others and successfully defends an exercise queen in a murder trial. Throughout the show, no one has faith in Elle Woods, but she manages to surprise them when she defies expectations while staying true to herself.
Performance dates are August 6-9 and 13-15. The Director of the show is Marcia Colbert. Anyone interested in serving as a Costumer, Props Master or Set Construction Hand should come to at least one of the auditions.
