Henderson County Master Gardener Association (HCMGA) will host Shirley Niswonger of Shirley Nice Flowers on Tuesday, February 20, 5:30 p.m. at the Clint W. Murchison Memorial Library, 121 S. Prairieville, Athens. Niswonger will present “Growing a Cutting Garden”. This free presentation is open to the public.
Niswonger began her floral design career with training from the New York Botanical Gardens in the Bronx, obtaining her floral design certificate in 2001. Before moving to Texas in 2012, she designed flowers for weddings and other events in California.
Now living in Athens, Niswonger has continued making floral arrangements for clients as well as friends, family, and for her personal enjoyment. Come learn how you, too, can have a bountiful flower harvest. Niswonger will share which flowers make good cutting garden plants, when to cut your flowers, and how to make your blooms last. You will also hear what not to do when putting in a cutting garden.
This presentation is a part of HCMGA’s “Learn at the Library” series, held on the third Tuesday of each month.
