Trinity Valley Community College’s Adult Education Department has been awarded the Accelerate TX Integrated Education and Training grant from the Texas Workforce Commission totaling almost $165,000 to fund the Student Opportunities through Accelerated Resources (S.O.A.R.) project. The purpose of the project is to extend Adult Education and Literacy programs to include training in Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Welding, occupations identified as high-demand industries in the TVCC service area. Other training disciplines may also be offered.
The focus of the project is on increasing enrollment and participation for educationally disadvantaged, unemployed and underemployed adults interested in career-path employment and post-secondary education (click for more info on what courses will be given priority). TVCC is the only Adult Education provider in their Workforce Development Area (WDA) to receive the grant, and will work with Workforce Solutions Centers and other collaborators as partners.
Classes will be offered in Athens, Palestine and Emory, and enrollment will be on-going. For more information on the S.O.A.R. Project, contact [email protected], [email protected] or call the Adult Education office at 903-675-6398.
