The City of Athens would like to invite local citizens to come out and show their support on April 23 during the live broadcast on Good Morning Texas to kick-off the “Europe, Texas” series from Athens. This is an exciting opportunity for members of the Athens community to be on television for a fun, high energy segment promoting our beloved city.
The City of Athens is encouraging all interested citizens to be at City Hall at 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23. For those arriving early, breakfast will be provided compliments of Kevin Lilly’s McDonald’s. Republic Services will be grilling up hamburgers for the live broadcast to promote Athens as the home of the original hamburger and to share with the crowd. The TVCC Cardinal Regiment Drumline will be playing before and during the live broadcast. Good Morning Texas recommends community members be in place by 8:15 a.m. in order to be ready at 9 a.m. when the show airs live.
Paige McCoy Smith serves as the on-air personality for Good Morning Texas and will be in Athens to conduct the live interview with Mayor Jerry Don Vaught.
Good Morning Texas is a morning show that airs weekdays immediately following Good Morning America on WFAA-Channel 8 (ABC affiliate).
