The Cedar Creek Veterans Foundation has announced that George P. Bush will be playing in this year’s Golf Classic on May 6.
“Mr. Bush, as a decorated Navy veteran with a tour of duty in Afghanistan supporting Operation Enduring Freedom, is acutely aware of the needs of veterans, the serving military, and their families,” event organizers said in a press release.
In addition, CCVF will be honoring East Texas World War II veterans, Corporal Terry Massey, USMC who spent 36 days on Iwo Jima, Master Chief Petty Officer Garrett O. Smith, USN, and Lt. James D. Ragsdale, USN.
CCVF raises money to benefit The Navy and Marine Corp Relief Society, the Dallas Fisher House, and Hope for the Warriors, by sponsoring the golf tournament and the annual 4th of July air show, “Thunder Over Cedar Creek Lake.”
The golf tournament is a four-person scramble with full handicap to be held at the Pinnacle Golf Club. Cost is $300 for a team of four, or $75 for an individual player and a team will be found for you.
Hole sponsorships are $500 and include golf team, sponsorship sign at a golf hole and a sign at “Thunder Over Cedar Creek Lake.”
Non-player tickets, which will include lunch, are $25.
“It’s your chance to honor the men and women who serve our country and pay tribute to those who have sacrificed for our freedom. We, as Americans, made a contract with those who volunteer to defend us, and it is our responsibility to see they don’t sacrifice even more once they return home,” said organizer Gayle Robinson.
