The Gun Barrel City Police Department arrested Shellye Autrey, 45, of Gun Barrel City Saturday, June 6 on multiple charges.
According to a press release from GBCPD, Officer Kennedy and Sergeant Jeff Norris were dispatched to the American Inn and Suites around 6:15 p.m. Saturday because of a verbal disturbance. According to the hotel’s management, tenants in adjoining rooms were arguing.
During the investigation, police found Autry hiding under a blanket inside one of the rooms. A computerized check showed that Autry had outstanding warrants from GBCPD. Also, police received information earlier the same evening that Autry and a man had been selling narcotics at the location.
A search of the room produced several baggies containing a white rock-like substance believed to be methamphetamine along with several glass smoking pipes, scales, empty baggies, marijuana and other paraphernalia.
The officers also found credit card information not belonging to Autry in the room.
Autry was transported to GBC Jail and while she was being booked in, police found a clear plastic baggie containing suspected methamphetamine on her person.
Autry was charged with Manufacturing/Delivering a Controlled Substance PG 1 (greater than 4 grams, less than 200 grams), Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information, and Prohibited Substance in a Correctional Facility.
