You’d be hard pressed to find a more fun – or free – event than what Trinity Valley Community College has planned for Saturday, Sept. 20.
That’s the day the college will celebrate its annual Family Day with a host of events culminating in that evening’s football game between the nationally-ranked Cardinals and Kilgore College. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. TVCC will distribute complimentary general admission tickets to the game at a carnival that will be held on the practice field just south of Bruce Field beginning at 4 p.m.
The free carnival will include bounce houses, face painting and a family photo booth (check out http://www.atlphotoboothrentals.com/ for details). Additionally, the TVCC Bookstore will have Cardinal apparel for sale that fans can purchase and proudly wear at the football game (apparel must be purchased with cash or checks, no credit cards).
At 5:30 p.m., members of the football team, Cardettes, cheerleaders and Cardinal Regiment and their families will be recognized during a pep rally that will be held on the carnival grounds. Special recognition will be given for the families that traveled the farthest and those who have the most members present. Immediately following the pep rally, food and tailgating will be offered until 7 p.m.
September 20 will not only be a big day for TVCC, but for the city of Athens. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Uncle Fletch Hamburger Festival & Cook-off (www.unclefletchfestival.com) will be held on the Henderson County Courthouse square in downtown Athens. The festival will offer a great opportunity to experience the local flavor of the community and mingle with Cardinal supporters and their families.
