Due to storms this past weekend in Athens, the City will be offering free yard waste disposal on Saturday, Dec. 19, at the Community Collection Site. The site will be open normal hours from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., and residents who present a current water bill will be able to dispose of leaves, tree limbs and other yard debris for no charge. For residents who have small amounts of yard waste, Republic Services will provide a special curbside pick-up for bagged leaves and bundled limbs on Saturday as well. The Community Collection Site is located at 500 Aaron Street (.3 miles south of W. College Street).
