Family Peace Project press release
The Family Peace Project expanded its ART SPEAKS competition this year to include K through 12th graders, with three themes.
More than 13,500 packets were distributed to students in these districts or schools: Athens Christian Academy, Athens Christian Preparatory Academy, Athens ISD, Brownsboro Chandler ISD, Cross Roads ISD, Eustace ISD, Mabank ISD, Malakoff ISD, Murchison ISD.
Thank you to all the district administrators, faculty and staff for their participation and help with this project.
ART SPEAKS was partially funded through a grant from TVEC Charitable Foundation.
The Family Peace Project sends out a big thank you to the Document Solutions team for providing copies for the entry packets! Thank you to our volunteers and Ms. Kling for getting the stapling done! Thank you to the TVCC Print Shop for their patience! Thank you to our judges, who volunteered their time to sift through the stacks of artwork! Lastly, thank you the hundreds of the artists from each district, your artwork was very impressive and showed tremendous creativity. We look forward to seeing your work again next year!
Winners were recognized at the 13th Annual Waffle Breakfast on May 3 and they will also be recognized in their at their schools before the end of the school year. The county winner for each theme will have their artwork appear on the note cards and all county winners will have their artwork appear in the 2014-2015 calendar. Starting May 16, calendars and sets of 12 note cards will sell for $10 per item and are available for sale Thursdays and Fridays from 10-5 and Saturdays from 10-2 at the Emporium Resale Shop, located at 720 East Corsicana Street, Athens. Proceeds from the sales will fund the work of the Family Peace Project, 501(c)3, serving Henderson County, with the goal of protecting, educating, assisting, caring, and empower victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
