Carole Ruska, a member of the Sarah Maples Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, presented Vickie Goodell with our “Outstanding Teacher of the American History Award.” She teaches 11th Grade American History at the Mabank High School. Vickie believes that everything we study in U.S. History can be related to the world we live in and the world her students will inherit. he first settlers to this country knew their life would be difficult, but had hope for a better future for their children. She stresses the human side of our founders. They chose to put everything they had in jeopardy to create this country, not because it would make their lives easier, but to create a better world for posterity.
