On Friday, Sept. 25, Deputy Brian Huckabee with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office came into contact with Earnest Wiggins on Stirman Road and Martin Luther King Street located in Athens. Huckabee found Wiggins to be in possession of a quantity of Crack Cocaine. Wiggins was placed under arrest and transported to the Henderson County Jail where he was booked in for Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1 < 1 Gram without incident.
On Sunday, Sept. 27, at approximately 4:15 p.m., HCSO Sgt. Bryan Tower and Deputy Meagan Hogan observed a brown ford truck driven on Prairieville Street in Athens. The operator of the vehicle failed to signal intent to turn onto College Street and a traffic stop was conducted. The driver was identified as Michael Joseph Chambers (who had no valid driver’s license) and the passenger was identified as Tandell Jai Faires.
A search of the vehicle yielded methamphetamine related paraphernalia. A search of Faires’ property yielded a small quantity of suspected methamphetamines and additional paraphernalia. A search of Chambers resulted in the recovery of suspected Soma (carisoprodol) pills which are schedule 4 narcotics.
Both were arrested and transported to the Henderson County Detention Center. Faires was booked for possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 < 1 gram – a state jail felony. Chambers was booked for driving while license invalid and possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 3 – 28 grams.
JP 1 Randy Daniel set a bond of $8,500 on each of the defendants. They remain in custody.
