Commissioners’ Court took steps Tuesday morning to receive state grant money for roads.

According to officials, the county will be receiving about $346,000 from the County Transportation Infrastructure Fund Grant program.

The money was set aside by the State Legislature to help counties repair roads damaged by the heavy equipment of the oil and gas industry.

“This is the culmination of about six months worth of work,” said Pct. 2 Commissioner Wade McKinney.

Commissioners’ Court made a point of praising the work of Jessica Chapman from the auditor’s office, saying she was instrumental in the county receiving the grant.
