Henderson County Judge Richard Sanders has been absent from the past two Commissioners’ Court meetings, and this morning County Attorney Clint Davis explained why.
“He did undergo a surgical procedure last week here in Athens at ETMC,” Davis said. “Everything went well. He is actually recovering very well from it.”
Davis did not elaborate on the reason for the surgery.
Davis said Sanders could be released from the hospital as soon as today, although that wasn’t guaranteed.
Sanders has been signing county documents throughout the week.
“We ran those back and forth to ETMC and we will continue to do that once he is released,” Davis said.
Davis said Sanders intends to return to the job of being county judge as soon as he can.
Until that time, Pct. 2 Commissioner Wade McKinney, as the longest tenured commissioner, will preside over Commissioners’ Court.
