Press release
Clint Davis has announced his intentions to seek re-election to a third term in office as Henderson County’s, County Attorney.
“In my seven years as County Attorney, I have been constantly reminded that Henderson County is a community of great people. It is an honor and a privilege to serve as your County Attorney. In serving the citizens of this County, I have had the good fortune to serve with a group of great staff and county employees, and have done my best to work cooperatively with all of the elected officials in Henderson County. It has been a privilege to work alongside so many fine employees and other elected officials,” he said.
While some measure an elected official’s performance by how much their office makes the headlines in the media and news, Clint believes that one of the best compliments to a County Attorney is the fact that the County and its elected officials are not constantly making the headlines involved in controversy. Clint takes pride in being able to quietly perform his work on behalf of the County and keeping the County out of controversies that could ultimately cost county taxpayers money.
Clint regularly attends and participates in the Commissioners Court meetings and is involved in the day-to-day legal decisions that are made on behalf of the County. The office disposes of roughly 3,000 criminal cases each year, assessing over $1 million in fines and court costs, and returning thousands of dollars in hot check restitution to Henderson County merchants each year. In addition, the office of County Attorney represents the State of Texas in mental commitment proceedings in Henderson County and has both felony and misdemeanor prosecution authorities in cases involving juveniles. The office has representatives that serve on the boards of both the Family Peace Project and the East Texas Crisis Center and Clint Davis serves as Chairman of the Board for the Henderson County Help Center. Clint’s other board responsibilities on behalf of the County include serving as the Chairman of the Henderson County Juvenile Board, service on the County’s IT Committee, the County Insurance Committee, the Henderson County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) and the East Texas Council of Governments Criminal Justice Advisory Board. Clint’s office has an open door policy and Clint welcomes the public’s thoughts and opinions on matters of county business.
“I am dedicated to being accessible to not only the officers and officials of the county, but to the public,” he said. “I always welcome opportunities to work and communicate with the people of Henderson County and would appreciate the public’s support in the upcoming Republican Primary and November general election.”
Clint was born and raised in Henderson County Texas, is a 1988 graduate of Cross Roads High School, and went on to receive his Associates from Trinity Valley Community College, his Bachelors from the University of Texas at Tyler, and his law degree from South Texas College of Law in Houston. In addition to serving as County Attorney, Clint has been an adjunct professor at Trinity Valley Community College for the past nine years, teaching classes in the evenings. Clint is currently a resident of Athens, and is married to Sheila (Durden) Davis who is a child forensic interviewer of the Henderson County Child Advocacy Center. They are active members of Grace Fellowship Outreach in Eustace, and have five children between them.
