Athens city officials are pleased with the success of the Uncle Fletch Hamburger Festival that took place on Saturday, Sept. 20 and want to say “thank you” to festival organizers Jeff Weinstein, Weinstein Law and Michael Hannigan, Henderson County Now, for bringing the festival back to Athens.
“The invention of the hamburger is part of Athens’ history and the Uncle Fletch Hamburger Festival is a time to celebrate Athens as the birthplace of the first hamburger,” Mayor Jerry Don Vaught said. “I couldn’t be more pleased with the success of the return of the hamburger festival to Athens.”
The downtown streets were filled with people who turned out for the celebration and participated in the fun activities that were planned for the day.
The City of Athens expresses its sincere appreciation to all the festival organizers, sponsors and volunteers for making the return of the Uncle Fletch Hamburger Festival a reality.
