The Cedar Creek Lake Women’s Club promotes congenial contacts for the women of the Cedar Creek Lake area, creating friendship, social and cultural activities. Meetings are held September through May at the Cedar Creek Lake Country Club in Mabank.

March’s speaker was Stephen Gent, owner of McDade’s Nursery, a full service nursery located on Highway 274 in the City of Tool, west of Cedar Creek Lake. They provide quality plants at affordable prices along with horticultural experience.

The topic of the discussion was “Landscaping for East Texas,” and focused on March as being an ideal time to address your landscape. Good soil is the key to producing a healthy environment. Trees, shrubs and grass each require their own specific ratio of ingredients to get the best results. One major mistake to avoid is applying weed control under trees since it is dangerous to the roots and can cause growth damage.

An array of beautiful color was found in the arrangements of jasmine, petunias, lavender, columbine, mondo grass, chocolate mint herb, fennel, and Easter lily were donated as door prizes.
