The National Weather Service today issued the following Winter Weather Advisory for Friday, Dec. 6:

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN FORT WORTH HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY FOR FREEZING RAIN…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM
TO 6 PM CST FRIDAY.

* TIMING…RAIN IS EXPECTED TO TRANSITION TO FREEZING RAIN FRIDAY
MORNING AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAY.

* MAIN IMPACT…ICE ACCUMULATIONS WILL CREATE HAZARDOUS TRAVEL
CONDITIONS ON AREA ROADS…ESPECIALLY ON BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES.

* OTHER IMPACTS…ICE ACCUMULATIONS MAY BRING DOWN TREES AND POWER
LINES…AND COULD CAUSE POWER OUTAGES.

* ACCUMULATION…UP TO ONE TENTH OF AN INCH OF ICE ACCUMULATION IS
POSSIBLE…ESPECIALLY ON ELEVATED SURFACES.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF WINTER
PRECIPITATION MAY CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR
SLIPPERY ROADS AND PLAN ON SOME TRAVEL DELAYS.

Record-setting results at the Turkey Trot

The 16th Annual Turkey Trot held on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, set new records for the Cain Center. Trotters enjoyed beautiful sunny weather for the 5k and 1mile fun run and walk! The Cain Center logged almost 450 registered participants and furry companions beating the previous record by nearly 100 participants! Each first place winner was given their choice of a Smoked Turkey or Ham provided by Danny’s Smokehouse and Barbeque. In addition to the turkeys and hams given to our race winners, there were several other door prizes from pies to carving boards that were given out to race participants and food pantry donors. He is a 1-year-old Yorkie mix and has been fully vetted, is heartworm negative, neutered and microchip. Slow to warm up to stranger, was abused and abandoned in an abandoned backyard. HOT Bowl tickets go on sale Friday at TVCC

Ticket sales for the C.H.A.M.P.S. Heart of Texas Bowl begin Friday at Trinity Valley Community College.

The Southwest Junior College Football Conference and regional champion Cardinals are scheduled to face the Mesa Community College Thunderbirds at Bulldawg Stadium in Copperas Cove on Saturday, Dec. 7. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.

The Cardinals are ranked sixth nationally and are 9-2 on the season. The Thunderbirds are ranked No. 12 and are 8-2.

The college has received an allotment of 200 general admission (35-yard line to end zone) and 50 reserve (inside the 35-yard lines) tickets for presale. General admission tickets are $8 and reserve tickets are $18. At the gate, tickets will be $10 and $20.

TVCC athletic director/head football coach Brad Smiley said all advance ticket sales benefit the college.

Tickets go on sale Friday at 9 a.m. at the TVCC field house. Cash and checks will be accepted.
