Athens City Council to host special budget meeting

Join the City Council on Monday, Aug. 24, for a special budget meeting where they will discuss “Aid to Other Organizations” at 3:30 p.m. located at the Athens Partnership Center (201 W. Corsicana St.). [Change of location in order to accommodate more seating and more parking.]

Regular City Council meeting to follow at 5:30 p.m. at the City Hall Annex (501 North Pinkerton St.).

Obituary: Paul Ann McCluskey

McCluskeyPaul Ann McCluskey was a long time resident of Athens who passed away on Aug. 6 of this month. Many of you know her through her membership at First Baptist Church Athens, or her work at Athens Christian Academy and with Boy Scouts of America.

There will be a family service for her on Sept. 4 in Amarillo, Texas.

If you would like to pay your respects or share condolences please send cards and notes to her grandson, Michael. He will take them to the memorial service and share them on our behalf from the community that she loved, where she lived and served so faithfully.

Banquet Scheduled to Kick-off TVCC Cardinal Season

For the third consecutive year, the Weinstein Team is helping to kick off the Trinity Valley Community College football season with a banquet.

This year’s Beef Before the Battle is set for 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at the Cain Center and will feature guest speaker DeWayne Owens.
