ROAD HAZARDS from storm

The following road hazards were reported by officials:

We have water over Mill Run, between Loop 7 & 753. Signs are being installed. Drivers should use caution on all County Roads today!

We are closing the south end of Mill Run at this time.

CR 2930 Peach Tree Road is closed due to high water.

CR 2938, CR 2919 and CR 2922 all have multiple locations of debris from the storm and are not available for through traffic at this time.

CR 4800 at Adams Creek has water over the road and signs are being installed.

CR 41513 (north of FM 753) has rushing water over the road.

Bunny Rabbit at Valle Vista in Athens closed.

National Weather Service – Trinidad Flood Warning

The National Weather Service Flood Warning continues for the Trinity River At Trinidad.

* At 9 a.m. Saturday the stage was 34.75 feet.

* Flood stage is 33 feet.

* Minor flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.

* Forecast…The river will continue rising to a crest near 48 feet by Wednesday afternoon then begin falling but remain above flood stage.

Brant Cookston No. 3 in the world in mini bareback riding

Brant Cookston, 7, from Malakoff competed in the very first Mini Bareback World Championship, Dec. 4-6 in Las Vegas, Nevada, which was held in conjunction with the National Finals Rodeo. He competed against the Top 25 kids from all over the United States.

The top 25 kids competed in the Long Go on Dec. 4, taking the Top 12 to the Short Go on December 6. Brant placed 10th in the Long Go and battled in the short go to become No. 3 in the world in the Mini Bareback World Championship.
