Just call them party crashers.

Someone forgot to tell the Lady Cards that teams seeded No. 20 aren’t typically extended an invitation to the Final Four. But that’s exactly where they are for an eighth straight year.

The Lady Cards didn’t just walk in uninvited. They kicked in the door with a 77-44 blowout of No. 12-seeded Walters State Thursday at the Rip Griffin Center on the campus of Lubbock Christian University.

TVCC Lady Cards reach the Elite 8

Welcome to the Elite 8.

They may be the No. 20 seed, but the Lady Cards sure didn’t play like it Wednesday afternoon in a 78-69 win against fourth-seeded Jones County. It was one of their most complete-game performances of the season.

The win moves them into the regional quarterfinal action Thursday at the beautiful Rip Griffin Center on the campus of Lubbock Christian University. The Lady Cards (29-5) are scheduled to take on No. 12 Walters State (30-5), which pulled off its own upset in the second round, claiming a 57-54 against Cochise, the tournament’s No. 5 seed.

TVCC Cardinals fall at the tournament

A day off for the Lady Cards proved to be a day of disappointment for the Cardinals.

The ninth-seeded Cardinals saw their hopes of a first national championship dashed in an 85-80 second round loss to eighth-seeded Eastern Florida State. Their season ended with a 28-5 record.

The 28 wins tied for the fifth most in a season in school history.

TVCC: Tuesday at the tournament with a pair of wins

Twice as nice indeed.

Both the Cardinals and Lady Cards live to play again after Monday’s opening day at the NJCAA tournaments.

In the 20th national tournament game in school history, the Cardinals played like they owned the Hutchinson Sports Arena, rolling to a 100-54 win against No. 24-seeded Baltimore City. It was no contest.

Lady Cards softball on a roll

The Lady Cardinals are on a roll!

They have won 9 of their last 11 games and have raised their season record to 17-13. They are 4-2 in Region XIV Conference.

The Lady Cardinals enter the week fresh off a doubleheader sweep on the road Saturday against Kilgore. They won 8-2 and 12-4.

Two conference doubleheaders are on tap this week. Wednesday, the Lady Cardinals head to Lufkin to take on Angelina 1/3 p.m. Saturday, they will be at home against Tyler. Action at Drumgoole Field at Cain Park begins at 1 p.m.

There is no admission fee to Lady Cardinal home games.
